'I Would Kill For A Role!' Salma Hayek Is Desperate For A Part In Downton Abbey
It's as popular in the US as it is in its native UK so it's hardly suprising Hollywood stars are dying to to be cast in Downton Abbey - and Salma Hayek is the latest celebrity fan to hint at a role.
The actress, 47, said she would "kill" for a part in the ITV drama but is not sure what they would do with her.
Speaking to Just Jared, she revealed she and her family were planning a move to London in the near future and she would love to be in the show.
She said: "The English are so spirited but so repressed. It's so bizarre. But I love Downton Abbey. I would kill for a role.
"What's a Mexican going to do in Downton Abbey? I would have to play deaf and dumb!"
Salma, who has a cameo in Muppets Most Wanted, was also forced to deny she and billionaire husband Francois-Henri Pinault were leaving Paris and moving to London with their two children in order to avoid certain taxes.
She told Times magazine: "I want to clarify, it's not for tax purposes. We are still paying taxes here in France.
"We think that London has a lot more to offer than just a better tax situation. François thinks London is very cosmopolitan. I think it will be good for my career too."
Is that a hint to Downton creator Julian Fellows?
The fifth season of the award-winning show started filming in January and will return to ITV this autumn.
He's certainly not planning to stop writing the drama any time soon and speaking at a film event recently, he said: "I have no plans to stop writing and while ratings are as high as they are I can't see they wouldn't commission another series; it's just that they won't confirm until the fifth series is televised."
