Where Was Everyone? Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, Kanye West And More Snub The Grammys

Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Jay Z and Beyonce may have provided some star power at the Grammy Awards last night but there were some major stars missing from music's biggest night as Miley Cyrus, Rihanna and Kanye West all snubbed the ceremony.

Rihanna may have won Best Urban Contemporary album for Unapologetic, but she failed to show up to the award show, at which she is normally a regular. The star did put an appearance at Roc Nation's pre-Grammys brunch on Saturday though, before partying the night away with Drake and Rita Ora at Los Angeles hot spot OAK 1.

And wherever she was on Sunday, news soon reached the star of her big win, as she retweeted a congrats message from the Grammy Twitter feed, adding: "$weet $urprise, pretty phucking rad! Thank you".

Rihanna showed up to the Roc Nation Pre-Grammy brunch on Saturday but failed to show at the main event.

While Rihanna normally loves a red carpet, Adele is known for being more than a little publicity shy so it was hardly surprising that she too decided to skip last night's bash. Despire lying low for much of the past year, the singer's James Bond theme 'Skyfall' took home the Grammy for Best Song from a Movie.

The singer chose to celebrate her win from the comfort of her own bed as she tweeted fans last night: "Wish I was there! Thank you for the grammy! (My 10th one! Whhaaa?) Have a wonderful night. I'm in bed, now feeling very restless x".

Adele and Rihanna may have both scooped awards, but others chose to skip the Grammys, perhaps over their lack of nominations. Miley Cyrus spent the evening playing Guitar Hero at home after failing to notch up any nods while as Beliebers moaned about Justin Bieber's lack of recognition, he was busy lying low in Panama following his arrest days earlier.

The 56th Grammys was also a Kardashian free event as despite rumours they'd put in an appearance, Kanye West and fiancee Kim failed to show despite the musician's nominations for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Album. His no-show was hardly a surprise though as the Yeezus star previously blasted the Grammys for only receiving two nominations for his album.

"Yeezus is the top one or two album on every single list, but only gets two nominations from the Grammys," he told an audience during his tour in December. "What are they trying to say?"

Also sorely missed for pure entertainment value was Lady Gaga, who in previous years has provided the best OMG moments on the red carpet (remember the egg?)

With the likes of Gaga and Nicki Minaj both MIA, the red carpet was lacking in excitement while Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez's absences meant it was left to Beyonce and co. to add some glamour.
